Baseline Test

We perform an onsite 30 minute computerized neurocognitive test which has been scientifically validated to measure the effects of concussion. The data is stored securely following testing.

*We are partnered with ImPACT who developed the neurocognitive testing software and are world leaders in the field of concussion management having tested millions of people across the world. This software is used by leading sports organisations across the world including the IRFU , NFL & other major sporting organisations.

Post Injury Testing

Following a suspected concussion you will be scheduled for a post injury test and clinical assessment with one of our concussion doctors who is experienced and trained in the management of concussion.

Our medical team will conduct the post injury neurocognitive test which will then be reviewed by our doctor. A clinical assessment will be carried out by our doctor as well.

By performing this additional neurocognitive test it will ensure safer management of athletes with concussion or suspected concussion, helping minimise any subsequent brain injury risk.

There will be a requirement in a percentage of cases for an athlete to have more than one post injury evaluation and neurocognitive testing if he /she is still experiencing signs and symptoms of concussion.

What is the minimum age allowed for the Concussion Management Programme? The screening is for people aged 12 years and older.

Can I take the test after training or a workout? It is important that your brain is focused and relaxed for the test.  It is recommended that you have not trained within 2-3 hours prior to the test.

Is there a charge for the Concussion Management Programme? Does my insurance cover this? Yes, there is a charge for this programme. Insurance policies differ, so it is best to check with your insurance provider to see if they will reimburse the cost of the concussion programme.

Will I receive a copy of my/my child’s results? Neurocognitive testing is a specialized area that requires extensive training to interpret.  For this reason, results of the testing are stored on the system and are not shared.  In the event of a concussion, the results of the baseline and post-injury testing will be analysed by our concussion specialists and discussed in detail with the participant.
